Leica have produced 1320 units of M3 Black Paint since 1959. After half a century, less than 30 perfect black paint M3s remain. The black paint was not too durable and was easily scratched. The majority units of Black Paint M3 are in rather poor condition, as they were assigned to the war correspondents or photographers.

 

 

 

 

 

There is a unique feature of the original box, which “M-3-10151-X” was printed on. And the “X” is referring to the Black Paint edition.
